Arbor sometimes suggests a specific product to help with a problem it spots in your garden. This page explains how those suggestions are chosen and how we make money from them.
How Arbor recommends products
When Arbor spots a problem in your garden — aphids on the peppers, mildew on the squash — it sometimes suggests a specific product that can help. Those recommendations come from our own curated catalog, chosen the same way we build plant care advice: from university extension guidance, not from whoever pays the most.
Some of those links are affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer pays Arbor a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence which product we recommend — our catalog is picked first, and affiliate programs are joined second. If there is no good product for a problem, we do not show one. Most of the time, we do not show one.
Who we work with
We are currently applying to or participating in affiliate programs with garden retailers including DoMyOwn, Gardener's Supply Company, and True Leaf Market. We keep this list current as programs are approved or dropped.
How you will know
Every product suggestion in the app names the retailer and carries the note "Arbor may earn a commission" directly beneath it. Tapping one opens the retailer's own site in your browser.
What we share
Outbound product links carry an anonymous click identifier so the retailer can credit Arbor for the referral. It contains no account information and is not linked to your identity by the retailer. We receive aggregate conversion reports — order totals and commissions — and store only the fields needed to reconcile a referral. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
